How do I make an appointment?
If you are a current patient and have a User ID and Password, log-in to the Patient Portal on our website to book appointments in real time 24/7. If you do not have a User ID and/or Password, please send us an email at info@caringhandspediatricsny.com. We will re-activate your account. New patients may also pre-register via the Patient Portal. Otherwise, current and new patients alike may call the office anytime at (718) 570-4650 to make an appointment. After hours, please leave a message with your name and number. We will call you back when office hours resume.
What do I need to bring to my child’s first appointment?
Please go to the Insurance page where you will also find forms to download. Print and complete the Registration Form and the Initial Visit Questionnaire. Please bring the completed and signed forms on the day of your visit along with your child’s insurance card and immunization records. Review our Notice of Privacy Practices as well as our Office Policy and print a copy of each for your files.
Do you take new patients?
Yes we do. Please visit the Insurance page to make sure that we take your insurance.
How do I transfer my child’s medical records from another provider to your office?
Please go to the Insurance page where you will also find forms to download. Download and sign the Release Form. Please take the signed Release Form to your previous doctor’s office so they can send us a copy of your child’s medical records.
Which hospitals are you affiliated with?
Dr. Calagos is affiliated with New York Hospital Queens located at 5645 Main Street, Flushing, NY 11355 and Flushing Hospital Medical Center at 4500 Parsons Blvd., Flushing, NY 11355.
Will you come see my newborn baby?
Yes. Dr. Calagos will see your newborn baby within 24 hours of birth at New York Hospital Queens and at Flushing Hospital Medical Center. Please let the labor and delivery room staff know you would like Dr. Calagos to come. If you are having your baby in another hospital, please call our office to make a newborn appointment. This should be within 2-3 days of discharge.
Can I call after office hours?
For urgent medical questions only, please call 1-877-3304410 and leave your number. The doctor will get back to you. Note that the doctor will call from a private number. Please make sure your phone is able to receive her call. In case of a real emergency, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. In case of a poisoning emergency please call the New York City Poison Control Center at 212-POISONS (212-764-7667) or at 1-800-222-1222.
What if I have a non-urgent question?
Please call the office at 718-570-4650 during office hours to speak with the doctor or the staff. If the doctor is not immediately available, please leave a message with the staff. The doctor will get back to you on the same day.
Do you accommodate walk-ins?
We are happy to accommodate walk-ins. If you come and it’s not an emergency, we will see you on the same day as our schedule allows.
Can I send a photo of a rash/cut/others for the doctor to see and evaluate?
We highly discourage sending photos to be evaluated. The doctor will always need to see you in person to make a proper evaluation and recommend treatment.
I’m expecting and would like to meet the doctor before I deliver. Is that possible?
Yes. Dr. Calagos conducts free prenatal classes for all expectant parents who may be interested. Classes are held in the office every second Thursday of the month at 12 noon and every fourth Thursday of the month at 5:30pm. Please see the Classes page for more information.
